The Balna (nicknamed The Whale) in Budapest was designed by Dutch architect, Kas Oosterhuis, who was commissioned to design a multifunctional complex from four public warehouses that were built between 1874 and 1881, preserving some of the original architectural elements. The complex opened in November 2013 with concerts, cultural programs, and childrens' workshops.
