Artist's Description
Interior painted arches at Melk Abbey.
The abbey was founded in 1089 when Leopold II gave one of his castles to Benedictine monks who converted it into a fortified abbey. A monastic school was founded in the 12th century, and the monastic library was renowned for its extensive manuscript collection. The monastery's scriptorium was a major site for manuscript production. Melk Abbey was converted into a High Baroque show place between 1702 and 1738. It is said that nine million bricks were used to create its 500 rooms. The Library and the Marble Hall have trompe l'oeil painted tiers on the ceiling to give the illusion of greater height, and the ceilings are slightly curved to add to the effect. Melk Abbey is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

About Pamela Newcomb
Welcome to my gallery! I am the proud owner and creator of Pamorama Photography®, a Southern California photography business. I often combine photography with travel and outdoor activities. I seek to capture exceptional images of the world as I see it. I look for color, texture, and light as I photograph nature, architecture, sunsets, sunrises, seascapes, landscapes, events and more. I want my clients to experience my images with the feeling that they are present in the moment. I have created custom art by adjusting the detail, palette, and colors to suit decorating requests. I have had a lot of success with printing on metals and acrylic, and using light boxes. To consult about a custom version of one of my images, please send...
